Bulgargaz will launch an auction for the supply of liquefied gas in November and December, another auction for supplies during 2023 and a third for 10 years, Denitsa Zlateva said, their ultimate goal is to ensure long-term energy security.

At the same time, Bulgaria is negotiating with the Russian group “Gazprom” on the restoration of gas supplies, which were interrupted by Moscow in April after the authorities in Sofia refused to pay in rubles, but so far there is no noticeable progress, said the Minister of Energy of Bulgaria, Rossen Hristov.

On August 22, Hristov announced that Bulgaria wants to review with Gazprom the decision to stop the supply of natural gas, given the existence of fears of a winter shortage.

“Gazprom” suspended the supply of natural gas to Bulgaria on April 26, the same day that the same decision was made regarding Poland.

Currently, Bulgaria, which is almost completely dependent on the import of Russian gas, provides about 30% of its needs with supplies from Azerbaijan, and buys the rest on the market.
