President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that about 450 bodies are probably buried at this place in the forest on the outskirts of the city of Izyum, which was recently retaken by Ukrainian troops during a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region.

Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleg Sinegubov said that two children were among the exhumed bodies.

“Some of the dead have signs of violent death. There are corpses with tied hands and traces of torture. It was also found that the victims had explosive, shrapnel and knife wounds,” Sinegubov wrote in Telegram.

Forensic experts, dressed in white protective suits, worked methodically for several days on the exhumation and identification of the bodies, whose graves are marked with thin wooden crosses.

Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov dismissed Ukraine’s accusations as “lies”.

Earlier, local residents reported that there are graves of people who died during a Russian airstrike in the forest.
