Ranked 82nd at the start of the WTA 250 competition, Sinyakova scored a surprise victory over the Wimbledon champion, (4)6-7, 7-6(5), 6-4.
The final of the competition in Slovenia lasted three hours.

- This is the third trophy of an athlete from the Czech Republic in singles after Bastad and Shenzhen (both in 2017).
- Thanks to the triumph in Portorož, Kateryna will register a jump of 33 positions in the WTA ranking (she will rise to 49th place).
