ISU Timiş firefighters intervened overnight from Saturday to Sunday to put out the fire that broke out at the Luiz Tsurcanu Children’s Hospital in Timisoara, where 42 children and 41 parents were evacuated, Agerpres reports.

The babies, who were evacuated from the Louis Turkana Children’s Hospital in Timisoara at night, were transferred to other departments of the medical department and to several hospitals in the city.

The spokeswoman of ISU Timiş, Olena Megerea, said that the Red intervention plan was activated, the fire is manifested by large smoke emissions.

“At the time of the arrival of the firemen who conducted reconnaissance, massive smoke was found on the first and second floors, 42 children and 41 parents were evacuated. Since the arrival of the forces and means to the place of extinguishing, the fire has not spread,” said Olena Megereya.

According to Opinia Timișoara, the fire allegedly started due to a short circuit that occurred at the air purification station, which melted several plastic elements and produced a large amount of smoke.

A mixed team will be set up on site to determine the cause of the smoke in the hospital.
