
On Wednesday (14.09) in the evening, the ELAS forces carried out the “broom” operation in the areas of the municipality of Hersonissos.
During it, dozens of checks were carried out, violations were confirmed, while the police handcuffed 19 people. As part of a targeted operation aimed at preventing traffic accidents, suppressing crime, as well as strengthening the sense of security among citizens, 160 people were checked, of which 19 were detained, as well as 90 vehicles, while 36 violations were confirmed, of which 17 related to the Code road traffic.
In particular, five people were arrested for revocation of a driver’s license, six for agitation of buyers, four for disturbing the peace and another four for revocation of a health certificate and street trading without a license.
Similar operational actions, the main features of which are the strengthening of the presence of the police and the implementation of targeted control, as announced by the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete, will continue in all areas of the island.
