The main airline of the Republic of Moldova, Air Moldova, has abandoned the decision to resume commercial flights to Moscow, which it announced last week amid the conflict in Ukraine, AFP reports, taken by Agerpres.
“The Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Moldova has announced an operational directive (…) prohibiting national companies from flying in Russian airspace,” Air Moldova said in a statement published on Sunday evening.
“Therefore, Air Moldova will not be able to provide flights between Chisinau and Moscow, which were previously announced for October 1,” the airline operator added.
According to the operational directive adopted on Saturday by the Civil Aviation Authority, national air operators from the Republic of Moldova will be prohibited from flying to the Russian Federation.
Air Moldova announced on Friday the resumption of flights to Russia from October 1, interrupted since the start of the Russian offensive on Ukraine on February 24.
