In the last 24 hours, 2,254 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, 860 less than the previous day, as well as eight deaths, according to data reported on Wednesday by the Ministry of Health.

474 of the new cases are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection. In contrast to the newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who had already tested positive, 90 people tested positive again.

320 new cases were registered in Bucharest, 162 in Timisoara, 135 in Cluj, 131 in Iași, 102 in Brasov, and less than 100 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the rest of the counties.

1,646 patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized in hospitals, which is 117 less than the previous day. Also, 146 people were hospitalized at the ATZ, which is 5 less than the previous day. Of the 146 patients admitted to the HTI, 127 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized 221 minors, 221 were hospitalized in wards, which is 17 less than the previous day, and 0 in the intensive care unit, 1 less than the previous day.

By Wednesday, 66,882 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 had died.

In the last day, 8 deaths were registered (6 men and 2 women) – 1 in the age category of 50-59 years, 2 in the age category of 60-69 years, 2 in the age category of 70-79 years and 3 in the age category over 80 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases, 1 of them was vaccinated.

Over the last day, 3,721 OT-PCR tests were conducted (2,220 – according to the diagnosis and medical protocol and 1,501 – according to the request) and 15,461 express antigen tests.
