The highest average net wages were recorded in the field of information technology services (including IT services) (9,549 lei), and the lowest in hotels and restaurants (2,273 lei).

Compared to July last year, the average net salary increased by 12.1%.

If we look at wages in relation to the dynamics of consumer prices, we can see that the index of real wages was 97.5% in July 2022 compared to July 2021.

In July 2022 it was also 99% compared to June 2022.

Compared to October 1990, the index of real wage growth was 221.6%, which is 2.1 percentage points higher. below the June 2022 figure.

In July 2022, compared to June, in most types of economic activity, the level of the average net salary increased due to the provision of one-time bonuses (quarterly, half-yearly, annual or for special results), rights to material and material assistance, amounts from net profit and other funds (including securities). Also, the growth of the average net salary occurred due to higher production achievements or revenues (depending on the contracts/projects).

The most significant increase in the average net salary:

  • with 6.6% in warehouse and auxiliary activities in transport;
  • from 4.0% to 6.0% in the fields of services related to mining, production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning, clothing manufacturing, repair, maintenance and installation of machines and equipment, agriculture , hunting and related services, air transport, other extractive activities;
  • from 2.0% to 4.0% in forestry and logging (including fishing and aquaculture), research and development, crude oil and natural gas extraction, tanning and leather processing (including tourism and leather goods, harness and footwear; preparation and fur dyeing), printing and reproduction on recording media, beverage production, textile production, financial intermediation (except insurance and pension fund activities), information technology service activities (including computer service activities), metal construction industry and metal products (except machines, equipment) and installations).

The decrease in the average net salary compared to June 2022 is due to the provision of one-time bonuses, in-kind and monetary assistance, amounts from net profit and from other funds (including securities) in the previous months. Also, the decrease in the average net salary was due to the disruption of production or lower revenue (as a function of contracts/projects), as well as employment in some types of economic activity of personnel with wages lower than average.

The most significant decrease in the average net salary:

  • with 14.2% in publishing;
  • from 4.0% to 7.0% in the production of machinery, machinery and equipment, n.o.m., production of computers, electronic and optical products, production of coking products and products obtained from the processing of crude oil, trapping, processing and distribution of water, mining of hard coal, production of tobacco products;
  • from 1.5% to 4.0% in mining of metal ores, auxiliary activities for financial intermediation, insurance activities and pension funds, productivity, cultural and recreational activities, collection and treatment of wastewater.

In the budgetary sphere, there was a decrease in the average net salary compared to the previous month in education (-6.6%, mainly due to a decrease in the amount of hourly wages of teaching staff during the holidays), in public administration (-1.5%), respectively in the field of health care and social assistance (-1.0%).
