Response to a post by the widow of a murdered journalist Giorgos Karaivazexpressing strong dissatisfaction with the behavior of the Police and the Minister of Citizens’ Protection, and being informed by various rumors that a case had been initiated, issued by the Ministry of Citizens’ Protection, emphasizing that the investigation would continue as long as the perpetrators were brought to Justice.
The ministry’s announcement also emphasizes that the journalist’s widow can directly contact and meet with the minister.
“It goes without saying that the investigation into the murder of Giorgos Karaivaz will continue until the perpetrators are found and brought to justice. The case is being handled by the competent officers of the Homicide Investigation Unit of the Attica Police Headquarters, who are to inform the widow of Giorgos Karaiwaz of developments. Despite this, the widow of the murdered journalist can directly contact and meet with the Minister of Citizens’ Protection at any time she wishes.”
It is noted that in his post on social networks, the wife of Giorgos Karaivaz Stata Alexandropoulos Karaivaz, among other things, mentions that 17 months after the murder of the journalist, no progress was made in the case, while, in addition, she had no communication with the new head of the homicide department (contrary to the behavior of the previous one), but even the Minister for the Protection of Citizens has still not agreed to meet with her, despite the fact that the Prime Minister himself promised the mother such a meeting.
He also points out that “I will by no means accept silence, because remaining silent is like giving an alibi to all those who might think that George had other connections,” and in conclusion, the widow of George Karaivaz asks all help “in order not to forget and leave a serious crime as an ordinary crime.”
