Venice Film Festival: Golden Lion for the documentary “All Beauty and Bloodshed”

The American documentary “All Beauty and Bloodshed” won the Golden Lion for Venice festival.

The French film “Saint Omer” was awarded the Silver Lion.

Australian actress Cate Blanchett received the Best Actress award, the second of her career in Venice, for her performance as an orchestra conductor in Todd Field’s Tar.

Irishman Colin Farrell won Best Actor for his portrayal of a gentle farmer in the black comedy The Banshee of Inisherin, directed by fellow countryman Martin McDonagh.

Imprisoned Iranian director Jafar Panahi, who was unable to come to Venice to accompany his film Bears Don’t Exist, has been awarded a special prize by the committee of the Venice Film Festival.
