
National air carriers from the Republic of Moldova will be prohibited from flying to the Russian Federation. The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) issued an operational directive to this effect on Saturday, Moldpres news agency reported.
According to a CAA press release, the decision was made “in order to ensure aviation safety and security, taking into account the decision issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization, as well as the decision to suspend all certificates and authorizations by the European Aviation Safety Agency. issued by aeronautical agents of the Russian Federation”.
The decision of the Chisinau Aviation Authority came for the company Air Moldova announced on Friday that it is resuming flights to Moscow, starting from October 1. Flights to Moscow were suspended at the end of February after the start of the war in Ukraine.
The Moldovan air carrier claimed that it took this decision as a result of countless appeals from citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in the Russian Federation and want to return home.
