Ukraine wants to receive more than $300 billion worth of war reparations from Russia, Ukrainian Justice Minister Denys Malyuska said.
Kyiv wants the UN General Assembly to pass a resolution that would allow the creation of an international mechanism for demanding war reparations, Mr. Malyuska said in an interview with the Funke Group published today.
While the cost of damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure from the Russian military’s incursion is estimated to be much higher than the amount given by Ukraine’s Justice Minister, the $300 billion figure is the sum of Russia’s Central Bank resources that are placed in the G7 states pledged as part of Western sanctions against Moscow. after the February 24th invasion.
Mr. Malyuska said that in addition to asking for frozen Russian state funds, Kyiv would seek to transfer frozen funds and frozen assets abroad to Russian state-owned companies and Russian oligarchs.
