The Romanian Navy announced in a press release that the naval dragoon “Lieutenant Dimitrie Nicolescu” (DM-29) arrived on Friday at the military port of Constanța, where it was safely moored after moving to a maritime area on Thursday, September 8, where there was a drifting sea mine reported by the Sokil HSP ship.

“Following an encounter with a sea mine produced on the night of September 8 due to adverse weather conditions in the relevant sea area, the ship’s crew intervened to plug the sump and limit the impact of seawater entering the damaged sea. compartment. Later, the warship made a return march to the military port of Konstanz with the support of the intervention sea tug with divers “Grozavul” and the sea tug “Viteazu”, which provided assistance and anti-mine research, – the message said.

According to the quoted source, there were no casualties or injuries after the explosion, the 75 soldiers of the ship’s crew arrived safely at the military port of Constanta, and there was no serious damage on board.

In the near future, the ship is planned to be repaired at the shipyard.
