In August, ANAF initiated a new control action aimed at the income received from the work of individuals who deliver food through established platforms (couriers).

“In the first phase, almost 200 partner companies of the largest platforms in Romania were identified, which between 2019 and 2022 did not declare approximately 4.8 million hours of work by couriers who were not paid the corresponding taxes and contributions,” ANAF mentions.

Control results in the field of cryptocurrencies

According to ANAF, in the field of transactions with cryptocurrencies, at the moment, revenues of more than 171 million euros have been detected, received by approximately 100 entities, both individuals and legal entities.

A compliance component is provided, in which it is recommended that everyone who conducts or intends to start trading in cryptocurrencies, ensure the declaration and payment of all tax obligations to the state budget.

• During the fiscal control, more than 54 million euros were discovered, which were partially or completely excluded from the declaration. There is a tendency to increase the amounts declared on one’s own initiative, the voluntary implementation of which is one of the strategic tasks of ANAF.

“In this way, the income of approx. 49 million euros received from the trading of cryptocurrencies, which were fully declared, for which the relevant taxes and social contributions were paid. People who receive income from the provision of services in the online environment, for example, people who offer entertainment services on various specialized platforms, are evaluated,” the quoted source said.

There are contacts with some of these platforms that periodically provide information on the income received by individuals living in Romania. Currently, at the level of the Directorate for Electronic Commerce, 170 entities, both individuals and legal entities, have been identified with revenues of more than 24.48 million euros, which are subject to either risk analysis or background checks.
