Islet migration was not found in Euro within the Greek borders, after a search and rescue operation in the Soufli area, as previously there was information about presence at the scene of a large group of migrants.

According to EL.AS., at noon, information was sent to Captain Andreev (notes) from the Turks, with which they asked the Greeks to conduct a search and rescue operation.

In particular, a report was made of 400 migrants in coordinates corresponding to an island within Greek borders. A specific area within Greek territory was determined in cooperation with the army.

However, from the electronic surveillance system and drones EL.AS. 400 migrants were not found.

However, it was decided to test the point for life. Thus, a group of six police officers, one Frontex officer and two representatives of the Red Cross went by boat to the island and found that there were no migrants at the scene.

On the contrary, there was a strong presence of the Turkish gendarmerie on the Turkish side.

Min. Protecting a Citizen: Turkey’s Famous Tactic

Naturally, the whole incident caused concern and questions in the Ministry of Citizens’ Protection.

It is reported in Ministry of Citizens Protection circles that we are probably facing Turkey’s well-known tactics, “which, as usual, are based on the desperation of unfortunate people.”

And they conclude: “From the first moment, an immediate and large-scale police operation has been carried out within the framework of the Akritas project. We respond to asymmetric threats by protecting our sovereign rights. We respond to provocations with the application of international law. We respond to the instrumentalization of human suffering with respect for human life.”
