Seven years after the first Apple Watch, the 8th generation represents what many active people have been waiting for: a rugged watch with a bigger screen and more features. Apple has launched the Watch Ultra, which pits it against Garmin, but is also the most expensive model in the company’s range.
The regular Watch Series 8 starts at $399, while the Watch SE costs $249. However, the company also announced a model for those who often do sports in rain, snow, dust or water: the Watch Ultra.
It has a 1.92-inch screen, weighs 61 grams, is extremely durable and promises 36 hours of battery life, which is twice as long as the regular Apple Watch. The Watch Ultra also has an “action” button designed to be easily pressed while on the move, even if you’re wearing gloves.
With this new model, Apple is competing for the first time with well-known companies (such as Garmin) for the release of watches designed for those who are serious about sports.
The Apple Watch was launched in 2015 and has sold more than 100 million units, with a 30% share of the smartwatch market.
