Beket and Tirgu Logresti (Gorzh county) were among the weather stations where an unusually large amount of rain fell. The highest amount of precipitation this month was 209.7 mm at the Yezer weather station, according to the climatological characteristics published by the National Statistics Agency.
The average temperature in August 2022 was between 8.0 °C, at the weather station Vf.Omu, and 26.0 °C, in Zimnych. In Omu, the temperature ranged from +2.5 to +14.6, and in Zimnych from +14.2 to +37.5.
The highest values, above 24 °C, were recorded in most of Muntenia, Oltenia and Dobrudja, in the west and south-west of Banat, in the west of Crisana, as well as in the south of Moldova.
The deviation of the average air temperature for August 2022 from the median of the reference interval (1991-2020) across the country was positive. Values above 2 °C were recorded separately in Muntenia, Krishan and Maramures. The largest deviation value was 2.3 °C at the Satu Mare weather station.
The deviation of precipitation in August 2022 from the median of the standard interval (1991-2020), calculated as a percentage, was positive in most of the country. High values of positive deviation, more than 70%, were recorded in the greater part of Oltenia, in large areas of Muntenia and Moldova, in the south of Banat, in the west of Transylvania, on the coast and locally in the mountainous area.
The largest value of positive deviation was 279% at the Beshe weather station. Negative deviations were registered mainly in the Danube Delta, Crisana, Maramures, Banat, in the center and south of Muntenia and in the southeast of Transylvania, in other regions they were registered only locally or separately. The largest value of negative deviation was 78% at the Gura Portiței weather station.
The highest value of the amount of precipitation that fell in 24 hours in August 2022 was 209.7 mm at the Iezer weather station, 64.2 mm at the Polovragy weather station. The lowest value of monthly precipitation in August 2022 was recorded in the Danube Delta, at the weather station Gura Portiței (4.0 mm).
In August 2022, the 24-hour rainfall absolute maximum was exceeded at two weather stations: Baraolt (1954 record) and Țebea (1949 record).
In most of Dobrudja, the amount of precipitation recorded in August 2022 was below 30 mm, and in small areas below 10 mm.
Total precipitation in August 2022 was below 50 mm in most of Dobrudja, in southern, central and eastern Muntenia, in the western half of Crisana, in western Maramureş, locally in Oltenia, Banat and Moldova and isolated in Transylvania.
In most mountainous and foothill areas, as well as in some hilly areas of Oltenia, Muntenia and Moldova, the monthly amount of precipitation was from 100 to 150 mm, and in small areas of the Carpathians and in the north of Oltenia, this amount exceeded 150 mm.
The pluviometric regime was excessive in large areas of Moldova, Transylvania, Oltenia and Muntenia, in the east of Maramures, in the extreme south and west of the Banat, in the east of Crisana, in significant areas in the mountainous area, as well as on the coast. .
It was very redundant and extremely redundant isolated in central and eastern Moldova, in northern and southern Oltenia, in southern Banat, western Transylvania, western Muntenia and in the mountainous area. In the rest of the country, the precipitation regime is within normal limits.
