Sorin Grindeanu said on Tuesday night on Antena 3 that the government’s main concern in the Blue Air crisis was to bring home Romanians abroad who were supposed to return on the airline’s planes, News.ro reported.

“We were concerned, after Blue Air’s decision to block all flights until Monday, (…) first of all to find a solution. Decisions made at this evening’s meeting were reported. This will be a decision of the National Emergency that we will make tonight, and tomorrow at the government meeting we will approve a decision by which we will allocate 5 million lei to the Ministry of Transport, Tarom, so that people in this situation can be transported home with the help of Tarom. We will find a solution (…) Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. we will make this decision,” Grindyanu said.

Grindean: “Blue Air was not forced to stop flights. This capture does not automatically lead to the interruption of flights.”

The Minister of Transport specified that all those affected by the Blue Air company’s decision to stop flights can demand the return of the money paid for the tickets through the court.

“We have a European regulation that applies to all airlines, including Blue Air, and this European regulation says that when flights are canceled, when there are very long delays, those who bought the tickets can take action against the company and get their money. . This also applies to Blue Air. We are talking about a private company, not about “Tarom” and not about a company that is a state concern. Our concern is to bring Romanians to the country, and in front of this company that took advantage of the help of the Romanian government, we have to see how the economic part works, because the situation cannot remain like this,” Sorin Grindianu said.

When asked if he could have avoided the seizure of Blue Air’s accounts by the Environmental Fund Administration, Sorin Grindeanu explained that the seizure was not related to the flights.

“I spoke to Minister Tanchos Barna and he told me that the decision they made was the result of a long series of discussions with Blue Air representatives. Blue Air was not forced to stop flying. This capture does not automatically lead to the interruption of flights. The situation at Blue Air did not arise suddenly, the signals were in the past,” said the Minister of Transport.

Sorin Grindianu added that the government will then go to court against Blue Air to recover the sums of money spent on the transportation of passengers affected by the flight cancellations, as well as other outstanding sums owed by the airline. to pay the Romanian state.
