According to the Public Television press release cited by Agerpres, TVR Cultural aims to become a platform for the promotion of the main cultural and spiritual values, as well as Romanian creators.

“The dynamics and realities of the cultural environment will make this TVR channel a carrier of messages for people of culture and local artists, as well as specialized institutions in Romania,” the source said.

At the same time, TVR Cultural will present the Romanian public with up-to-date information and major European and international cultural events.

“TVR will do more for Romanian culture, we will combine respect for classic heritage works with openness to modern, current projects, we will offer a space of expression for a lively, deep dialogue between cultural figures and artists of different generations.” said Dan-Cristian Turturica, President – CEO of SRTv, quoted in a press release.

TVR Cultural was founded in 2002, being at the time the only TV station in Romania with an exclusively cultural profile. Broadcasting of the channel was stopped on September 15, 2012, the message also states.
