BMW XM: the first images of the future large SUV News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your inbox

If the production version of the BMW Concept XM is expected at the end of 2022, the first images of the model have already leaked online: indeed, BMW has filed a patent in Japan to protect the design of its future large SUV. these images are already freely available on the Japan Patent Office website.

These first photos reveal the style in detail BMW XM : as you can imagine, the Munich-based firm was not concerned with elegance, and we find a particularly massive design on the production version, a foreshadowing of the concept car of the same name.

BMW XM: very impressive styling

We find more details on the front of model a gaping dual grille, as well as very thin two-stage optics. The front bumper is framed by two small vertical scoops, and in its lower part there is an air intake with a radar to assist the driver.

There is a model very massive in profile, which should offer generous space on board. At the rear, the model features two very thin taillights that stretch horizontally, as well as a prominent shield with a fake hood and four tailpipes located on either side.

BMW XM: plug-in hybrid engines

Under the hood we have to find plug-in hybrid engineswhich combine a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 “S68” with an electric motor and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

There should be two versions in the program: the first with approx 670 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque, which could take the name “XM 50e”, and a more powerful second, close to 750 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque found on the XM concept. Depending on the versionThe range on 100% electricity should be from 50 to 80 km only.

BMW XM: release at the end of 2022

Unfortunately, no images have leaked of the model’s interior: it should be close to the interior of the Concept XM, with an aviation-inspired cabin, a large slab consisting of two large screens on the instrument panel, and space for five – seven passengers.

The production BMW XM is expected to go on sale the end of 2022, at rates to be announced later. According to initial estimates, it should be around 130,000 euros at the entry level: a particularly elite price for the future flagship SUV of the Bavarian firm.
