To further appreciate Popovic’s impressive results, it’s enough to note that he has 8 of the 10 best times set in 2022 in the ultimate event: the 100m freestyle.
In the top of the fastest 100-meter freestyle races this season, apart from David Popovich, there are only two swimmers: Australian Kyle Chalmers and Hungarian Kristof Milak.

David Popovici will compete in the 100m freestyle at the World Junior Swimming Championships on Saturday.
European and world champion among seniors David will start the 13th series, from 17:59.
In the same test, Romania will have another representative, Patrick Sebastian Dina. It will start in series 11, from 17:54 (Romanian time).
The semi-finals at the distance of 100 m will be held on Sunday, September 4, from 02:25 (first heat), respectively from 02:30 (second heat). We are talking, of course, about Romanian time.
Finally, on Monday, September 5, from 02:02, the grand final of the 100-meter freestyle will take place.
So far, at the Junior Swimming Championships in Lima (Peru), David Popovici has won a gold medal in the 200m freestyle, as well as gold in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay and silver in the 4x100m medley relay.
