Turkey: Bosphorus closed due to grounding of cargo ship

Vessel traffic in the straits Bosphorus was cut short after the 173m freighter Lady Zehma ran aground due to rudder failure.

This was reported by the Turkish shipping company Tribeca. The Istanbul Governor’s Office said the Turkish Coast Guard assisted the cargo ship and no casualties were reported.

The Lady Zema sailed from Chornomorsk, Ukraine, to Ravenna, Italy on August 30, carrying 3,000 tons of corn, according to the UN-Ukraine-Russia-Turkey Joint Coordinating Center for Ukrainian Grain Exports.
