​Over the last day, 2,398 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 232 less than the previous day. In the last day, 23 deaths of infected people were registered in Romania. Among the injured is a two-month-old baby from Alba County who was born prematurely.

The most cases – 320 – were registered in Bucharest.

The 463 new cases in 24 hours are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.

In contrast to new confirmed cases, 123 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

How many patients are still hospitalized

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2,339, which is 89 less than the previous day.

191 people were hospitalized in intensive care, which is 6 more than the previous day. Of the 191 patients admitted to the ICU, 163 were unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 303 are minors, 298 are in wards, which is 5 less than the previous day, and 5 are in the hospital, 1 more than the previous day.

23 people died in the last day, including a child

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,751 people with a diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the interval 01/09/2022 (10:00) – 02/09/2022 (10:00) INSP reported 23 deaths (14 men and 9 women), there were no deaths before the control interval.

Among the 23 fatal cases, one was registered in the age category of 0-9 years, 13 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 9 in the age category over 80 years.

19 deceased patients had comorbidities, 2 patients had no comorbidities, and 2 patients had no comorbidities.

Of the 23 who died, 6 were vaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 2,851 OT-PCR tests were conducted (1,853 – according to the case definition and medical protocol and 998 – according to the request) and 13,097 express antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,432,259 RT-PCR tests and 11,264,830 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
