Mitsotakis: We will support citizens while respecting fiscal restrictions

“We want to speak with deeds, not with words,” the prime minister emphasized. Kyriakos Mitsotakisaddressing the townspeople near the cafe on the main pedestrian street of the city. Serronwhile he stressed that “our government has completed three years of hard work, and our work is the best proof of what we have achieved.”

“And your presence here today is the best proof that the New Democracy is strong, enjoys the trust of the Greek people and will confidently go to the elections that will be held in 2023,” said Mr. Mitsotakis and continued: “In order for the Greek people to judge and compare our own work, in the midst of numerous crises with the work of some others, work in quotation marks who want to claim again and wonder what? The ability to turn us back? Greece does not turn back, it only looks forward, and this is the message that I want to convey today from Serra.”

The Prime Minister assured that the government will continue to support every Greek woman and every Greek man in the fight against the energy crisis, and stressed: “We are going through difficult times in the midst of an unprecedented geopolitical and energy crisis. I don’t think there has been a government that has dealt with as much difficulty in such a short period of time as the New Democracy government did in those three years.”

“We survived, the country survived, the country progressed, Greece is much stronger today than it was three years ago. It is more powerful geopolitically, more powerful economically, its opinion is taken into account inside and outside of Greece,” the Prime Minister continued.

Mr. Mitsotakis repeated that we are in for a difficult winter. “This crisis is not the result of our own choice. However, we have to get through this, and just as we got through the coronavirus crisis and came out stronger, we will get through the energy crisis. A little patience until the International Fair in Thessaloniki, when I will be given the opportunity to present a framework to support the Greek economy and Greek society in the coming difficult winter,” he added.

He reiterated that “we will support every Greek woman and every Greek man, we will comply with financial restrictions that will encourage self-restraint and not a return to the excesses of the past. We will prove once again that this composition is not for the simple, it is for the complex.”

Mr Mitsotakis said that the greeting given to him by the citizens “is more about the pre-election period and also about your enthusiasm and your love. There are still many months before the elections. Save your energy, we’ll need it in the elections in 2023.”
