ZFEs have been operating in some large French cities for several years. And it is not for nothing that this device was already presented in 2015 in Paris, and since then it has given ideas to other cities that have decided to follow the example in the capital. Among them we can mention Strasbourg, Lyon, Rouen, Grenoble or Chambery, Nice and Toulon. The list continues to grow, although the government even plans to make the measure mandatory for all cities with more than 150,000 inhabitants by 2024 at the latest. Thus, in 2025, France should have at least 43 ZFEs. The measure, which is obviously far from unanimous and which has one goal: to permanently ban all thermal cars in large cities.
WARNING! Since 2015 and the appearance of Crit’Air vignettes, traffic restrictions apply to certain vehicles in large cities. Shall we summarize together? 🚙 #MyMoreResponsibleProject

The new ZFE in Marseille
Starting today, it is the turn of the new city to enter the circle of low-emission zones. This is Marseille, which thus prohibits the circulation of cars with a Crit’Air 5 sticker or not classified in its advanced center from this Thursday, September 1st. However, the highway that crosses it was not affected. According to the metropolis, only 2% of personal vehicles, 4.4% of heavy goods vehicles and 1% of commercial vehicles“. Unlike Paris, which allows unauthorized vehicles to drive early in the morning, late at night and on weekends and holidays, Marseille bans such cars every day, regardless of the hour. Very strict positioning!
Some hardening
But that’s not all. In effect, Lyon, Toulouse, Reims and Rouen also decided to tighten the screw and proceed to further strengthen their ZFE. And not for nothing, until now they only concerned trucks for professionals. From now on, the movement of private cars equipped with the Crit’Air 5 sticker, as well as unclassified cars, will be prohibited in Lyon. But the situation is even worse in other municipalities, as this new measure will also affect vehicles with a Crit’Air 4 sticker.
The navigation application Waze offers a new option that helps the driver learn about restricted areas by the Crit’Air sticker on the vehicle. Find out how it works. https://t.co/pIfXK9QDny
