A counteroffensive by the Ukrainian armed forces in the south of Kherson region earlier this week entered its fourth day after several HIMARS missile attacks during the night. Ukrainians’ message to the occupiers? “Run or die!”.
In a slightly outdated assessment published on Thursday morning by the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain, the military in London recalls that “during August 30-31, the Ukrainian armed forces continued offensive operations in the south of Ukraine, supported by intensive long-range strikes on command and logistical support positions in the occupied zone”.
- “Also, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine released a video of the use of HARM anti-radar missiles by Ukrainian aircraft. Earlier, the Russians claimed to have found fragments of this weapon designed to search and destroy radars.”
The British are referring here to the footage Ukrainian pilots shared on Tuesday of them firing such missiles after Moscow’s state media “announced” that “virtually all” Ukrainian military pilots had been killed by Russian forces.
“Russia emphasizes strong ground-based air defense – the radar coverage that enables this is a critical capability for its operations in Ukraine. A significant and sustained degradation of Russian radars by HARM missiles would be a serious blow to Russia’s already problematic detection capabilities.”
The latest update of the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense regarding the situation in Ukraine is September 1, 2022

New Ukrainian HIMARS attacks in Kherson
In a report published on Thursday morning by the Southern Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is said that Kyiv’s air force carried out 24 strikes on the concentration points of its Russian forces, Russian soldiers and equipment, control points and fortified points, logistics centers, transport routes and combat positions.
The Ukrainians also say they have launched new strikes from artillery and HIMARS missile systems received from the US in mid-July against Russian drone control points, electronic warfare stations and Russian radars, salvo fire systems and air defense systems.
The Ukrainian military also claims to have destroyed a number of ammunition depots of the invading forces in Kherson, as well as the command posts of the 331st and 56th airborne assault regiments of the Russian Air Force.
In fact, despite the media blackout requested by Kyiv officials on Monday, video of HIMARS firing at Russian positions in Kherson emerged on Thursday.

Also, on Wednesday night, presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak addressed the occupiers from Kherson:
“Once…in Kherson. Russian officers and Gauleiters (a reference to the rulers installed by the Nazis in the occupied territories during World War II) are said to have shunned outings in recent times. Because you never know what is waiting around the corner. As soon as the city falls asleep, the partisans wake up… We wish all collaborators “good night”.

The Ukrainian army simulated an attack on Kherson with the Americans
Several US and Western officials, as well as Ukrainian sources, told CNN on Thursday that the US military had simulated the Kherson offensive with the Ukrainians and its prospects for success.
After modeling and analysis, Pentagon officials urged their Ukrainian counterparts to keep the operation limited in both its objectives and territorial dimensions to avoid overstretch and stalling on multiple fronts.
The Ukrainians initially anticipated a broader counteroffensive, but in recent weeks have shortened their mission to the south, to the Kherson region, US and Ukrainian representatives said.
This information came after a day ago, CNN also revealed that several months before the start of the offensive, the administration of President Joe Biden was helping the Ukrainian military to prepare for it by fulfilling specific requests for weapons.
Ukraine requested appropriate weapons for a counteroffensive several months ago, and the U.S. has granted many of those requests, including large amounts of ammunition, artillery pieces, and Javelin anti-tank systems, as part of several military aid packages given to Ukraine over the past two years. months
