The United States will announce new military aid to Ukraine “in the coming days,” the White House said on Wednesday, AFP and Agerpres reported.
“We’re interested in (Ukrainians) having the means to win on the battlefield, and that’s why we’ve already pledged more than $13 billion in military aid to Ukrainian forces. We will continue and there will be announcements about future assistance in the coming days,” said John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator at the White House.
Kirby declined to comment on Ukraine’s counteroffensive in the south of the country, especially around the city of Kherson, one of the few captured by Russian forces.
“We allow Ukrainians to have a say in their military operations and the success of those operations, whether offensive or defensive,” he said at a press conference.
Washington regularly reports on various tranches of military aid, of various forms and amounts, provided to Ukraine.
One of the most spectacular statements took place on August 24, the day Ukraine declared independence. US President Joe Biden then announced nearly $3 billion in aid.
