
Two planes loaded with large-caliber artillery ammunition, which are part of the military aid promised to Ukraine by Spain, took off on Wednesday from the Spanish Rota base, the delivery will be made with the support of an unspecified allied country, the publication reports. The two planes are the first of five to six shipments through which Spain will send 75 pallets of ammunition to Ukraine, aid that Kyiv is requesting “with the highest priority” because the Ukrainian army needs large quantities of ammunition in its war against Russia, Agerpres notes.
In addition, in response to Kyiv’s request for urgent delivery of military materials and uniforms adapted to winter conditions, the first six trucks with such vehicles have already left Spain. Four more trucks out of a total of 25 will depart on Monday, with the deliveries distributed in such a way that the Ukrainian authorities do not overload their storage and distribution capacities.
Also, at the request of Kyiv at the Prague meeting of European defense ministers, Spain will send aid in the form of sanitary materials to Ukraine by September 6.
Spain will also take part in training the Ukrainian military in the use of Western weapons, which are supplied to the Ukrainian army to fight against Russian aggression, a government spokesman in Madrid said.
