The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna said that in view of all the circumstances after February 24 and six months of war, NATO’s potential decision on the action plan for Ukraine’s accession is not as important as before. – only direct joining, writes European Truth.

“If Ukraine had been offered an action plan for accession by February 24, we would have been maximally satisfied with this decision, even happy (…) Today, the MAP within the framework of NATO would be equivalent to the decision of the summit in Bucharest. in 2008,” Stefanishyna explained.

According to her, Ukraine has already implemented many NATO practices, and now its army receives unique combat experience that is not available in the armies of NATO member countries.

“We could get the main advantages, interesting opportunities in the conditions of this war only as a member of the Alliance, through Article 5. We will implement the rest ourselves. This does not require the participation of high-ranking politicians or today’s ministers. We cooperate with NATO. But in matters of security guarantees, only membership can change the situation,” the vice-prime minister explains.

In her opinion, sooner or later Ukraine will definitely join NATO – “if NATO exists until such a window of opportunity opens.”

She sees no point in discussing Russia’s objections to Ukraine’s accession to NATO, believing that the prospect of negotiations with the Kremlin is currently invisible. No one knows whether these issues will be discussed.

“If you have paid attention, Russia does not ask for this and did not discuss it at all for half of the war. The full-scale war overturned all possible narratives of the Russian Federation – both about the threat from NATO and about the protection of the Russian-speaking population. The Alliance countries were actually afraid of many things, saying that they could upset Russia. Therefore, we do not take seriously any statement of the Russian Federation and will be ready to return to negotiations after we liberate our territories,” said the vice-prime minister.
