David Popovich’s goals at the Lima Junior Swimming Championships: to have fun in the pool and enjoy the competitive atmosphere

“Lima is a very interesting city, and it was a pleasure to visit it. I like the people I met because they are very friendly.

I know Peru will be a great host for this competition. I encourage all swimming enthusiasts to come and enjoy the spectacle that will come with athletes from all over the world.

For this contest, as for most other contests, I did not offer anything specific. The aim is to have fun, enjoy yourself, swim fast and make the most of the great atmosphere.

I rarely think about the past, but I always think about the future. The future is imagination.

The performance in Rome was the fruit of our hard work. We don’t focus on what was, we focus on the potential to go faster.

The future must be approached step by step, brick by brick. There are many technical aspects that need our attention and it is a lot of work. Every now and then we can do something very nice.

Breaking a world record is cool, but the potential to be faster is endless. So why should we limit ourselves when we know we can achieve more?

I think I did everything I wanted to do as a young swimmer, but let’s see what I can do in Lima and maybe I can surprise this week.” – Davyd Popovych.
