Out of 299 voting deputies, 142 votes were recorded “for”, 157 “present”.
It is noted that on the basis of the relevant provisions of the Constitution (Article 68) and the Rules of Procedure of Parliament (Article 144), the decision to establish a commission of inquiry “is taken by an absolute majority of those present, which cannot be less than two-fifths (2/5) of the total number of deputies.” In other words, the limit of 120 deputies was observed regardless of the majority.
After the completion of the procedure, Chairman of the Parliament K. Tasoulas said that 29 deputies would take part in the commission. In proportion to party strength, 15 MPs from ND, 8 from SYRIZA, 2 from PASOK-Movement for Change, 1 from KKE, 1 from Hellenic Solution, 1 from MERA25 and 1 from independent MPs will participate in the Parliament. He also set the deadline for completing the work of the commission of inquiry and presenting its findings to the Plenum at one month (from the moment of its formation). It is noted that the commission of inquiry has the opportunity to ask the plenary session of the parliament to extend its work.
