
Over the last day, 1,905 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 502 more than the previous day. Bucharest has the highest number of new cases at 276, which also has the highest infection rate in the country, even if it has fallen sharply in recent weeks to 3.73 per thousand.
332 of the new cases in 24 hours were re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.
In contrast to new confirmed cases, after retesting patients who had already tested positive, 111 people tested positive again.
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 fell to 3,000
In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2,936, which is 75 more than the previous day.
245 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, which is 15 less than the previous day. Of the 245 patients admitted to the HTI, 200 are unvaccinated.
Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 381 are minors, 378 are in the wards, which is 18 more than the previous day, and 3 are in the intensive care unit, 6 less than the previous day.
Two deaths in the last day
From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,639 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died.
In the period from 28.08.2022 (10:00) to 29.08.2022 (10:00), according to the INSP, two deaths were recorded (a man and a woman), there were no deaths before the control interval.
Of the two fatal cases, one was registered in the age category of 70-79 years and one in the age category over 80 years.
Both of the deceased had concomitant diseases and were not vaccinated.
How many Romanians were checked?
Over the last day, 1,536 RT-PCR tests were conducted (1,182 based on case definition and medical protocol and 354 by request) and 8,940 rapid antigen tests.
From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,417,604 RT-PCR tests and 11,203,371 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
