After Army of the Dead, The Gray Man and so on, Netflix continues to release action films with starless protagonists. One such person is undoubtedly Jamie Foxx, who plays Bud here, a tough guy who ostensibly works as a pool cleaner but is actually a… vampire exterminator. All this in sunny California, where vampires thrive in a strange way, and their destruction is entrusted to a whole secret organization – the “Syndicate”. But when a group of ruthless undead kidnap his wife and daughter, Bud defies the rules of the organization to do whatever it takes to free them.

Having proven himself time and time again as an action hero, Jamie Foxx once again rises to the occasion in a hilarious film full of impressive action choreography and wild car chases. The film by former stuntman J.J. Perry also tries not to take himself too seriously, adding plenty of humor and characters like (surprisingly cool) rapper Snoop Dogg to the mix. The duration of two hours is true that more could have been “collected”, but the idea that there would be much less severed vampire heads in this way was rather … unbearable for the creators.

On the Cinobo platform, we select a Turkish film that won an award at the Venice Film Festival. In May 1963, a group of army officers plot a coup to overthrow the government in Ankara. At the same time, in Istanbul, the conspirators set out to seize the State Radio Station in order to broadcast the messages of their movement from there. However, almost nothing goes according to plan. Balancing somewhere between satirical humor and serious social observation, the film presents the events of one evening during which history repeats itself like a farce. Three tough military heroes are determined to do anything, but on their way to their destination, they get stuck in traffic. Then they have to face the traitor. And when everything seems to fall into place, the most serious problem arises: a technician who knows how to handle transmission equipment has disappeared, and they themselves have to look for him in Istanbul at night.
