Indian authorities demolished two illegally built towers in the city of Noida (north) on Sunday. The buildings disappeared in less than ten seconds, leaving behind a cloud of dust and tens of thousands of tons of debris, News.ro reported with reference to Reuters.
A crowd witnessing the demolition of the roofs of high-rise buildings in the area cheered as the 103-metre blocks were brought down in a controlled manner.
Last year, the Supreme Court decided to demolish the two towers after a long legal battle, finding that they violated a number of building and fire safety regulations.
More than 3,700 kilograms of explosives were used. Dismantling took place at 2:30 p.m. local time.

Police are investigating whether buildings in the area were damaged by the demolition. Local residents said they would also check if their homes were damaged.
Demolition is rare in India, although many buildings are built illegally.
