The Turkish military “neutralized” seven members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in an operation in northern Iraq, the defense ministry said.
Turkey regularly launches airstrikes in neighboring Iraq as part of an offensive against PKK fighters based there.
“Our operations will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized,” the ministry said in a Twitter post. He usually uses the word “neutralize” in the sense of “kill”.
The PKK launched an armed struggle against the Turkish state in 1984 and over 40,000 people were killed during the conflict. It has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
