Zaporozhye: Kyiv and Moscow accuse each other of new explosions near nuclear power plant

Ukraine’s state-owned nuclear energy company Energoatom announced today that Russia has struck the Russian-held Zaporozhye nuclear power plant complex in southern Ukraine.

“Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have again shelled the area around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The process of establishing the damage continues,” Energoatom said in a Telegram message.

In a statement released by the Russian Defense Ministry, it in turn accused Ukrainian forces of shelling the Zaporozhye station three times over the past 24 hours.

Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the shelling near the station that set fires yesterday at the ash dumps of a nearby coal-fired power plant, causing the Zaporozhye station to be disconnected from the grid.
