its president Belarus, Alexander Lukashenkosaid today that his country’s Su-24 military fighters have been modified to carry nuclear weapon and that Minsk would react immediately if the West caused any problems.
Lukashenka said he agreed with the President of Russia on the modernization of Belarusian military aircraft Vladimir Putin This is reported by the Belarusian news agency Belta.
Belarus, a true ally of Russia, does not have its own nuclear weapons. Lukashenko did not elaborate on how nuclear weapons would be moved from Moscow, which is using Belarusian territory to support a so-called “special military operation” against Ukraine.
His remarks seemed to be mainly related to the potential threat from the West.
“They must understand that if they provoke an escalation, neither helicopters nor planes will save them,” Lukashenka said.
“Everything is ready,” he said, referring to the work of modifying military aircraft so that they can carry nuclear weapons.
“Escalation with Belarus is not the best idea, because it could be an escalation with the Union State (Russia and Belarus) that has nuclear weapons. If they start creating problems… the reaction will be immediate,” the Belarusian president said.
