  • In S1 2022, MedLife recorded a proforma consolidated turnover of 865 million lei, which is 28% more than in the same period last year. The results reflect a constant concern for the needs of patients by diversifying the portfolio of services.
  • The significant build-up of investments in the first six months – 12 acquisitions, the opening of six new divisions and a renovation – is the result of development synergies and consolidation at the group level.
  • In addition to the services offered nationally, MedLife has also integrated wellness services this year. The company’s vision for a healthier patient involves including them in health plans with the same tax benefits for employees.
  • One of the company’s strategic tasks for the next period is to accelerate the completion of the MedLife Medical Park project. The transformation process of the project was also aimed at consolidating the medical teams and aligning them with the new capacities that are planned to be launched, which led to a decrease in profitability in the short term.
  • At the same time, the demand for outpatient services in clinics continues to be high, as they are the engine of the development of other areas of business: hospitals, laboratories, and medical subscriptions.

The financial development of the group reflects the investments made during this period – strengthening the MedLife network at the national level by opening and acquiring new clinics and advanced medical centers in key cities of the country, to improve access to quality medical services and promote a healthier lifestyle for patients through comprehensive solutions.

Thus, MedLife has developed its medical infrastructure by signing 12 strategic agreements aimed at strengthening the services offered at the national level through the group’s two networks: MedLife and Sfânta Maria. In addition to consolidating its leading position at the national level, the group continued to develop business lines that meet the needs of patients in specific niche solutions, such as cancer diagnostics and treatment, through the acquisition of Neolife or OncoCard Brașov group, ophthalmic diseases, through the acquisition of Opticristal, as well as the integration of wellness services by purchasing most Sweat Concept gym packages.

Concerned about the needs of patients and wanting to increase access to quality medical services, MedLife also continued organic development projects by opening new medical centers at the national level, such as the opening of two dental clinics in Craiova and Ploiesti under the leadership of DENT. ESTET brand, the opening of a new hyperclinic in Tirgu Mures, as well as the launch of niche centers in Arad, Tirgovishte and Craiova.

“As a leader in the private healthcare market, we have taken it upon ourselves to adapt our development goals to best meet the needs of patients. The continuous efforts made since the beginning of the pandemic, by conducting research on COVID-19, as well as by diversifying the portfolio of services, have also been reflected in the development of our business. Therefore, every project launched in the first semester, both in terms of acquisitions and investments in new medical departments, will lead to long-term results for investors and added value for our patients.”said Dorin Preda, CEO of MedLife Group.

In terms of business lines, the group recorded the highest growth for the clinic division, with 48.6% compared to last year, respectively, for hospitals, with 14.4% compared to the same period in 2021. This evolution reflects the demand that remains high for ambulatory services in the network of clinics and is the engine of development for other divisions of the business: hospitals, laboratories and medical subscriptions.

At the same time, the dental division had more moderate growth thanks to investments made during the period in new acquisitions and the grand opening of new dental clinics.

The state of health of employees is an important factor for increasing the efficiency of business in Romania, as well as the economy as a whole

In addition to the development of integrated services for patients, MedLife continued to develop a portfolio of services for companies. In addition to preventive programs and medical training for employees or personalized reports on their health, the company has continued to expand its portfolio all this time with other medical solutions adapted to the needs of companies, and especially employees – the premium Concierge Doctor service, medical assistance at the headquarters -apartments of the company or in any region of the country through mobile medical clinics, wellness programs for employees supported by online fitness classes, therapeutic gymnastics or office massage.

“In the context of the pandemic and the crisis in the region, the business environment in Romania has been severely tested in the last two years, so it is important that the business has a partner that will provide it with the necessary support for healthy development in the next period. Therefore, this year we continued to develop medical subscriptions for corporate customers with insurance solutions and expanded our services for the small and medium-sized business segment to help companies continue to take care of the health of their employees and reach a new level of efficiency.”– added Dorin Preda, executive director of MedLife Group.

Forecast for the second semester: a balanced plan of acquisitions and investments to develop the existing network and infrastructure

As a task for the next period, MedLife representatives have in mind a development strategy that is carefully coordinated with both the national and regional macroeconomic context.

“The war in Ukraine has highlighted the volatility of the regional economy, implicitly the economic dynamics at the national level, so we see development in line with the market context in the second half of the year. In this regard, we will pay attention to macroeconomic forecasts and continue our acquisition and investment plans in a balanced manner. The needs of our patients will continue to drive our business decisions, so in the coming months we will focus on the goals we have set since the beginning of this year – investments to complete the second phase of the MedLife Medical Park project, which we hope to announce to investors at an open house in November this year , as well as other projects related to expanding the network of hospitals in the country to strengthen services at the national level.

In addition, we will also focus on strengthening preventive services. We firmly believe that, along with periodic consultations or medical tests, exercise and sports are preventive behaviors that can improve the health of patients, a fact that has been proven again during the pandemic, based on studies conducted on patients after COVID -19. recovery That’s why we see the need to integrate these services into health plans while maintaining the same tax benefits offered to employees. Apart from the fact that this holistic approach can make a difference to the health and lifestyle of patients, it can also make a significant contribution to relieving the burden on the NHS.”said Mihai Marku, president and CEO of MedLife Group.
