Serhiy Beseda is considered one of the main culprits of the failure of the “special forces operation” launched by Putin on February 24. The service he headed was also responsible for the preparation of the famous “fifth column” of the Russians in Ukraine, which was supposed to support the invasion forces at crucial moments.

Besida also provided Putin with an analysis of the political situation in Ukraine, on the basis of which the Kremlin concluded that the invading forces would be welcomed in many regions of the country, as well as in Crimea, which he annexed without a fight in 2014. .

As 6 months of war showed, Ukraine was ready to resist, no one provided consistent support to the Russian invasion, and huge funds allocated for the “fifth column” disappeared without a trace, Insiders report.

Director of the FSB with “happy” sons

Investigative journalists of the site The Insider, which was banned on July 15 by the Russian authorities at the same time as Bellingcat, show that Beseda, who holds the position of colonel general of the FSB, earns more than can be explained by legitimate income.

They note that Serhii Beseda and his family members (he has two sons) have never been involved in business, but they own expensive apartments in Moscow.

Younger son Oleksii, 40, is into music and mixes as a DJ in Moscow clubs after several failed business ventures over the years.

However, according to documents obtained by Russian investigative journalists, he owns an 87 square meter apartment near the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. The property is valued at approximately 30 million rubles.

Data about him were removed from Rosreetr, the state cadastre of Russia. Oleksiy Beseda also owns 4.3 hectares of land worth 100 million rubles ($1.65 million).

The director of the FSB was allegedly arrested on Putin’s orders

Another son of the FSB general also owns several real estate properties worth tens of millions of rubles, the data on which have all been removed from the state cadastre. Oleksandr Beseda was associated in the bankrupt enterprise with Roman Rogozin, the nephew of the former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and director of Roscosmos, Dmytro Rogozin.

The total cost of apartments owned by Oleksandr Beseda is about 95 million rubles.

As for the general himself, he owns an apartment with an area of 137 square meters in Moscow worth more than 100 million rubles. And this apartment was removed from Rosreetr.

According to The Insider, the total value of the Besedov family’s property will be approximately 350 million rubles ($5.8 million).

Investigative journalist Andriy Soldatov, who specializes in Russian special services, announced on March 11 that the entire leadership of the Fifth Service of the FSB had been beheaded, and Serhii Besada had been placed under house arrest.

In Moscow, the information has not yet been officially confirmed, as the general is still listed as the head of the service on the FSB website.
