
The city of Los Angeles has been ordered to pay large damages and interest for photos taken by emergency crews at the scene of the crash that killed former Los Angeles Lakers basketball great Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant’s widow, $16 million in compensation
According to American media, the total amount of damages is 31 million dollars, 16 of which will go to Vanessa Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s widow.
In a lawsuit between Bryant’s widow and the City of Los Angeles, she claimed she suffered a serious mental breakdown when Los Angeles police and firefighters took photos of the crash scene and the victims and then shared the photos with other people.
According to attorneys for Bryant’s widow, at least 11 police officers and 12 firefighters shared the photos within 24 hours of the crash.
In a civil trial in Los Angeles, a jury decided to award $16 million to Vanessa Bryant and $15 million to Chris Chester, whose wife and daughter also died in the tragic helicopter crash.
For their part, lawyers for the municipality of Los Angeles did not deny that the photos were taken, but argued that they were never made public.
