The cost of the Teledyne Flir Black Hornet drones, which are used for reconnaissance and target identification, will amount to more than 9 million euros, the ministry said in a statement.

The Black Hornet micro-drone is easy to operate, reliable, difficult to detect and especially suitable for fighting in urban areas, said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, quoted by The Guardian, quoted by news.ro.

According to the manufacturer, the Black Hornet microdrone is “extremely light, almost silent and has a flight time of up to 25 minutes, fits in a pocket, is battle-tested and transmits real-time video and still images in HD format to the operator.” .

The microdrone will be acquired from Teledyne Flir as a result of a framework agreement with the Norwegian Defense Materials Agency. The acquisition, preparation and delivery of the material will be carried out in cooperation and coordination with the British authorities.

Approximately 100 million Norwegian funds will be used to purchase a system for combating drones. The chosen system is the Nightfighter anti-drone system from UK-based SteelRock Technologies.

SteelRock Nightfighter is a portable system that provides protection against drones through effective jamming.

The system is particularly suitable for the protection of small patrols, artillery positions and other important assets.
