“There is no return to business as usual when it comes to relations with Russia. At a time when Russia is waging war against Ukraine, when it has attacked Ukraine, when Russia is occupying territories internationally recognized by other countries, this requires a change in policy in the West that will not only stop Nord Stream 2, but also get rid of from “Nordic Stream”. 2″, Duda said during his visit to Kyiv on Tuesday.

He emphasized that Ukraine should “return to the situation before the Russian invasion” and “all territories that were occupied by Russia should be liberated.”

Turkish President Recep Erdogan also called on Russia to return Crimea to Ukraine, saying on Tuesday that the annexation of the peninsula in 2014 was “illegitimate” and “illegal”.

Germany suspended construction of the controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline on February 22, two days before Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine.

Some German politicians still want the continuation of the Nord Stream 2 project.

Andrzej Duda’s statement on Tuesday was noted by the Russian ambassador to Poland, Serhii Andreyev, who called it “political rhetoric” on one of the Russian state TV channels.

“The President of Poland, who has no direct relationship with Nord Stream-2, is not authorized to make such decisions, it is rather such a desire. Of course, such an issue will depend only on other authorities in other countries,” said the Russian diplomat.

Their comments came after Bundestag Vice Speaker Wolfgang Kubicki spoke out in favor of opening the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to fill Germany’s gas storage for the winter.

At the same time, he added that when the gas tanks are full, the gas pipeline can be closed again.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, called the calls of German politicians to launch the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline similar to drug addiction.

The German government rejected Kubiki’s idea.
