Fuel has been dropping a bit in recent weeks. Not enough to find us at the post-imprisonment level of just €1.40 a litre, but still. And to be honest, that’s a good thing, after long months of steady growth where prices were above the two-euro mark. While the €1.50 petrol price is still a long way off, although it could still become a reality thanks to the upcoming increase in the government rebate, a liter is currently shown at 1.75 euros on average, which is much more correct than in the spring. Nevertheless, analysts warn us: the decline should not continue, at least while the war rages in Ukraine. And the situation there does not seem to want to improve, causing a resonance throughout Europe with a sharp rise in prices. And, unfortunately, fuel is also starting to become more expensive, unfortunately for motorists.

The rise of diesel
Indeed, according to the latest calculations in Ministry of Ecological Transition, a liter of diesel fuel is currently priced at 1.84 euros, which is five cents more than last week. Thus, diesel becomes more expensive than gasoline, and in particular, unleaded 95, which has not necessarily been the case for several weeks. For its part, gasoline has not become more expensive yet, but its decline has slowed down considerably. Unleaded did lose between 0.5 and 1 euro during the week, which is very little. On the other hand, if a liter of superethanol E85 is also falling slightly, then LPG is increasing and is reflected at an average of €0.8677 at the moment. However, it is still very interesting.
More fall
Olivier Ganttois, a spokesman for the French oil industry, said last week that, “in my opinion, we will remain at these prices until the end of the war in Ukraine.” If we have to wait until we know whether this is true or not, we are indeed seeing a slowdown in the decline. Therefore, fuel prices may have reached their lowest level. Then you will only need to rely on state discount, which will drop to 30 cents on September 1 to take advantage of the sharp drop. It will be removed at the end of the year.
I am introducing a bill aimed at reducing gasoline taxes in the face of record high fuel prices and taxing oil company dividends.
