Constant changes to the calendar of the Grand Circus caused a lot of criticism. Fans and drivers are not happy with the addition of races in countries with poor human rights at the expense of historic circuits (eg Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium).

Domenicali admits that the economic factor is very important in setting the calendar, but he also said that holding races in countries such as Saudi Arabia is profitable.

“I am not selling the soul of Formula 1. This is a normal change. We are open to everyone. Money is important everywhere, and for us, but we don’t just look at it. The packaging must be correct. If we looked only at the economic aspects, then the time would be different.

Women and youth participated in last year’s race (not from Saudi Arabia). They were able to enjoy what was previously impossible. It might be a very different place without us. The first changes are already there: women can drive in Saudi Arabia for four years” – Stefano Domenicaliin an interview with Sport Bild.

Germany and Russia are no longer on the Formula 1 calendar

Although Saudi Arabia is guaranteed a place on the calendar for the next 15 years, the German Grand Prix looks unlikely in the near future. Another country that will not host the race is Russia because of the war with Ukraine.

“Unless I’m on the phone myself, I hear very little about Germany. They talk and talk and talk and talk, but at the end of the day we need the facts. “Never say never, but in this case (No to Russia) I can promise that we will not negotiate again. There will be no more races there.” – concluded Domenicali.
