Former head of news aggregator Yandex.News, entrepreneur Lev Gershenzon launched a beta version of alternative service The True Story. He announced this on Monday, August 22, on his Facebook page.
“This is a beta version – that is, not everything always works, not everything that works works the way we would like. We will add new functionality, debug and train basic algorithms, and fix bugs,” Gershenzon wrote.
According to him, in addition to the media materials, social media posts and any other content related to a particular event on specific topics will be posted.
“Our task is to show the main events of the day and give brief information about each event and provide links to various media materials that write in detail about the event”, explained the businessman.
The first investors have already been found
As he noted, his new project has already attracted the first investments – almost 5% of the estimated annual budget has been found. The True Story team is currently negotiating with potential investors.
“At today’s launch, I hope this is the beginning of a great story. Read The True Story, share your impressions, suggest improvements. The better and more constructive the proposal, the more likely it is to be implemented,” Gershenzon wrote.
Gershenzon statements and consequences for the head of Yandex
Recall that in March, shortly after the start of the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, sanctions were imposed against Yandex CEO Tigran Khudaverdyan. A role in this was played, among other things, by Gershenzon’s statements that Yandex.News was hiding the full picture of what was happening from Russian users.
