“Four bears were illegally brought by unknown persons to Valya Borului district – the road to Kosteni (Fetele Târlii). We asked the competent authorities for help to determine the way the bears arrived in our commune and to find a solution for their relocation to other areas. We ask citizens to be careful and notify the authorities if wild animals appear near their homes,” the mayor wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.

Alin Staiku told Agerpres that the animals were brought in over the weekend and several witnesses were grazing their cows in the area.

The mayor says that he contacted the police, saying that there is no permit to relocate the bears in the area of the commune of Cerasu.

“The number of bears in our area is higher than normal. There were 33 bears viewed in our locality and we only had 10 in the open. And last year we had incidents with bears that were resettled without informing,” said the mayor.
