Dugina’s murder: Russians blame Ukraine – Kyiv denies involvement

Her special abilities Ukrainian are, according to the Federal Security Service Russiaper the murder of the daughter of Putin’s ally Alexander DuginKyiv, for its part, assured through adviser Volodymyr Zelensky that it had nothing to do with this.

Dugin’s daughter died in a car bombing on the outskirts of Moscow late on Saturday evening.

According to the Interfax news agency, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said the attack was carried out by a Ukrainian woman born in 1979, whose name she named. The FSB added that the woman and her teenage daughter arrived in Russia in July and spent a month preparing a terrorist attack, renting an apartment in the same complex and investigating Dugina’s lifestyle.

The woman in question attended an event outside Moscow on Saturday night, where Dugina and her father were also present, before setting off a “controlled explosion” in Dugina’s car and fleeing Russia for Estonia, the FSB said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova spoke of “Ukrainian policy of state terrorism” and other Russian officials blamed Kyiv, demanding a response from the Kremlin.

Russia’s Investigative Committee previously said the explosion was “planned in advance and executed by order,” adding that authorities were investigating.

Kyiv denies any involvement

Ukraine is not a “criminal state” like Russia, and therefore has nothing to do with the murder of Daria Dugina, the daughter of one of Vladimir Putin’s closest associates, Alexander Dugin, a senior Ukrainian official, said Sunday.

“I want to emphasize that Ukraine has nothing to do with this,” assured Volodymyr Zelensky’s adviser Mikhail Podolyak. “They don’t understand that we are not a criminal state like Russia,” he added, adding that the Russian allegations against Kyiv are likely aimed at recruiting more young people for Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Who is Alexander Dugin?

Born in 1992, Dugina, like her father, was engaged in journalism, philosophy and political science.

According to Russian media reports, the victim of the attack could be Darya Dugin’s father, the Russian ultranationalist philosopher Alexander Dugin, known as “Putin’s mastermind”. The father and daughter were supposed to return from the event on Saturday evening in the same car, but Dugin decided at the last moment to go separately.

Alexander Dugin has been advocating the unification of Russian-speaking regions with Russia for many years. 30-year-old journalist Daria Dugina also spoke out in favor of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In an interview in May, she called the war a “clash of civilizations” and said she was proud that both she and her father were targeted by Western sanctions.

Earlier this year, U.S. and British authorities imposed sanctions on Daria Dugina for spreading “disinformation” about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Dugin has been under US sanctions since 2015 for his alleged involvement in Russia’s annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea.
