ADVENTURE (2022)
Directed by: Dan Trachtenberg
InterpretationsCast: Amber Mindhunter, Dakota Beavers, Dane Di Liegro
Along with the 20th Century Fox film library, Disney also bought the rights to the legendary The Hunter film series, which it is now using to create a new sequel on the Disney+ platform. In this particular case, of course, it would be more correct to speak of a prequel, since the action of our story takes place in the early 18th century, somewhere in the vast northern plains of America. There, a young Comanche girl dreams of becoming a great hunter, but the setting isn’t exactly… inspiring. However, her chance does not take long when a mysterious, terrifyingly deadly predator appears in the forests of the area, destroying almost everything that moves and breathes.
The classic Huntsman story is getting another chapter, which, especially from the middle of the movie, is just amazing. Shooting in the wilderness and Native American actors certainly adds to the authenticity, but it’s undoubtedly the well-filmed action that ultimately matters. The director of the (excellent) television series The Boys, Dan Trachtenberg, orchestrated some great scenes here with the Fisher-Hunter in action, and unexpectedly a lot of splatter for the film, which is now included in the big Disney collection.

DRAMA (2018)
Directed by: Philip van Leeuw
InterpretationsCast: Hiam Abbas, Diamant Bou Abboud, Juliet Navis
From the Cinobo platform, we choose the Belgian-French-Lebanon co-production, which is really unfolding in a very suffocating framework. A group of people are locked in an apartment, somewhere in a Syrian war zone, outlawed by bombs and snipers. Under the guidance of a dynamic mom, everyone tries to follow their usual routine in highly unusual circumstances.
The harrowing drama perfectly captures the emotional burden of people, young and old, who live daily with the fear of death. Temporal and local limitation (within four walls, within one day) acts like a magnifying glass that magnifies the scale of one of the most tragic stories unfolding on the planet today. Life, however, goes on: love is born in the house, children’s games continue, secrets are kept or revealed that lead to explosions.
