Adrián Radulescu, the coach of the sensational Romanian swimmer, told about the secret of his student’s exceptional results before participating in the junior swimming championships (held in Lima, Peru, from August 30 to September 4).

According to Redulescu, Popovici is “constant, consistent and attentive to details.” It is a magical combination that David maintains with holiness.

“He worked a lot. I think we expected the year (#2022) to be this good. I’m a happy trainer, but one that can’t help and always finds new problems that need solving.

David Popovichi won two gold medals at the European Swimming Championships in Rome, our athlete was unstoppable in the queen’s distance in the 100-meter freestyleand also in the fact that 200 m free. After qualifying for the 400m freestyle final in fourth place, David decided to retire due to fatigue.

During the entire World Swimming Championships, only one athlete managed to win the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle events from the same edition.

It happened 49 years ago, and the person celebrating this feat is called Jim Montgomery (USA – he is now 67 years old). That year, the competition was hosted by Belgrade.
