The Fédération Internationale de Motorsport introduces sprint races in MotoGP in 2023
“It’s time for MotoGP to become more visible, not only on television, but also for the fans. We need more fans, we need a better show and we will fill the Saturdays,” said Jorge Viegas, president of the FIM.
The sprint race will take place every Saturday during the Grand Prix weekend.
It will take place at half the distance of Sunday’s Grand Prix and will give drivers half the points scored in Sunday’s main race.
Thus, each driver will have a chance to score a maximum of 37 points in one weekend. Now the maximum number of points is 25, News.ro reports.
